In this Cypher Mega Coding Club, children will be learning to code through the Scratch platform. Children will be working through incrementally harder content each week, and will be introduced to new programming concepts as they go along.

Towards the end of the term, children will design and develop their own Pac-Man style game from scratch, meaning they can combine their creativity with their new coding knowledge to create something very exciting!

In this club we introduce students to advanced text-based coding in Python. Students will work both independently and with the guidance of their teacher to complete various projects using Python code. Each week, students will work alongside their expert Cypher teacher to complete an array of impressive coding projects, including the retro classics Snake and Tetris. To see what your kids have been working on, simply log into their Tynker accounts at home and get them to show you the awesome things they’ve made!

In Cypher STEM club students will learn about a key STEM princple - from drag to calculating speed - and then create a making project based on what they have just learnt. At Cypher STEM Club, students will develop on their STEM learning through designing, building, testing and improving their project in an iterative process. Certainly, we are keen to avoid Cypher STEM Club being about everyone making the same thing in a linear manner, instead everyone will follow an authentic experimental process of testing and improving. As such, the emphasis of this club is on experimentation, learning from our mistakes, and most of all fun! Cypher STEM Club is set to be an awesome experience, and we just know kids will love it as much as we do!
