Summer Specials - gaming, creating & coding

Minecraft and Roblox Coding Camp

Is your child super keen on making games? Obsessed with Minecraft or Roblox? Our new Live Online Summer Specials kids coding camps open up the world of imaginative play with these amazing game design platforms. With our Live Online tutors throughout, kids will enjoy expanding their design capabilities and learning collaboration and communication skills.

Our special gaming camps enable older students (Giga and Tera - 9-12 year olds) to really get into Minecraft and Roblox, finding out more about creating and understanding how game design and coding work together. These coding classes for kids have been designed to match the enthusiasm of our keenest coders!

Roblox is a website and app where members can play and build online 3-D games. David Baszucki, the founder and CEO of Roblox, says 4.7 million people come to the website to play video games created by other users every month. Although most people just play games on Roblox, learning how to create the video games is a lucrative business. When he was 17 years old Laimonas Mileska, or Loleris, as many know him, had already made more than $100,000 in the five years he’d been designing games. And now at 23 he’s still a successful Roblox game developer - artist, programmer, project manager and owner of Mad Studio.

In this course students will be learning all about game development using the popular gaming platform Roblox. Students will design a game from the ground up, planning, design and execution. The Roblox studio is a fantastic first step for your child to explore all that goes into making an online game. Students will be introduced to the lua programming language for adding the interactive parts to the games they make. Within the coding lesson students will also learn about adding 3D parts to their projects and how they can create the right look and feel to tell an engaging story. The incredibly creative course should tick on the right boxes for any student wanting to progress for playing games to making their own.

Our Minecraft camp is designed to allow students to spend time building imaginative projects together using the same Cypher World server. Over the week, the workshop participants will build on each weekly challenge, developing collaborative team building skills and mastering Minecraft. Students will explore the Redstone and learning key computational concepts such as decomposition, algorithms, abstraction and logical thinking.By the end of the course the camp will finish with a their own virtual town, complete with buildings, train lines and planes.

Our coding classes for kids teach students how technology fits into the world around them, develop key skills like communication and computational thinking, and work together on coding projects with new friends.
